Kylie has been working in the legal profession since 2002 and is currently a Barrister at the private bar in Queensland. Kylie works in a variety of areas including criminal law which includes industrial manslaughter, and has a strong interest in human rights and domestic violence advocacy. She has held a variety of committee and company roles, and is currently a member of the Equal Opportunity Subcommittee of the Bar Association of Queensland and a committee member of the Association of Labor Lawyers Queensland. Kylie has also been an active member of the Women Lawyers' Association of Queensland, was Vice President for 3 years and remained on the committee for 6 years overall.

Kylie’s practice also involves Family Law, Administrative, Judicial Review, Inquests/Inquiries and Civil Law, and she does Appellate Advocacy in a variety of areas. She has a strong interest in human rights, refugee rights and issues affecting the criminal justice system.

 

Aside from working in private practice, Kylie has worked in a variety of roles at the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian and at Legal Aid Queensland. Kylie appears regularly on complex matters and on appeals at all levels, from the District Court to the High Court. She has recently appeared for the family of Hannah Clarke at the inquest into her death and that of her three children, and has also recently appeared for Women’s Legal Service Queensland at the public hearings of the independent Commission of Inquiry into Queensland Police Service responses to domestic and family violence.
